Acton, MA – May 16th, 2012

At the New England Motor Press Association’s (NEMPA) annual meeting and awards dinner held on Friday, May 11th, the 2012 WheelsTV POV of the Year Award (POVY) was presented to the ’07 to ’10 Chevrolet Silverado. The POVY recognizes motor vehicles that have proven themselves in day-to-day use for at least two years by providing dependable, trouble-free service and good consumer value.

This is the POV of the Year Award’s third year. In 2010, the ‘07-‘10 Toyota Camry was selected. In 2011, the ’06-’09 Ford Fusion took top honors. Each POVY trophy is custom made for that year’s recipient. Last year’s award featured a 17” 1918 Model T steering wheel. It now sits below a portrait of Henry Ford at Ford’s World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.

Laura Toole, Manager, Communications GM Northeast Region, takes the wheel of the 2012 POV of the Year Award. Left to right: GM Northeast Fleet Manager Pierre Kanter, Laura Toole, NEMPA President Keith Griffin and WheelsTV CEO Jim Barisano.

This year’s trophy includes an authentic 17” 1937 Chevrolet pickup truck steering wheel. The unique award was accepted by Laura L. Toole, Manager, Communications, GM Northeast Region. In accepting the award, Laura said, “The Silverado has demonstrated for decades that it is the most dependable, longest lasting pickup on the market and this award is further proof that Chevrolet is delivering the products that more people want with the right technologies and capabilities at a true value.”

The POVY was presented in association with NEMPA at a banquet at the Faculty Club of the MIT Sloan School of Management following NEMPA’s annual Technology Conference. Wayne Carini, the host of Chasing Classic Cars on the Velocity Network, hosted the event along with NEMPA President Keith Griffin. Said Keith, “NEMPA is proud to present this award in conjunction with WheelsTV because the previously-owned vehicle market is where most Americans buy their cars and trucks. The selection of the Silverado was an excellent choice because of its durability and functionality.”

In presenting the prestigious award, Jim Barisano stated, “Fuel economy and alternative fuels are all the buzz today and every family needs a fuel efficient, reliable day-to-day driver. But, as has been the case for hundreds of years, having a solid workhorse in the barn remains essential for many families and businesses. This year’s POV of the Year recipient, the ’07 to ’10 Chevy Silverado, is exactly that, having proven itself through years of dependable service.”

WheelsTV, North America’s leading producer and distributor of video test drives, unveiled a full lineup of iDrive Videos for the 2012 model year. iDrive Videos are the first ever video test drives that let car shoppers instantly get the information they want.

Acton, MA November 14, 2011 – Until today, anyone who used video to shop for a car or light truck had to wait until the information that they wanted appeared on the screen. In a medium where instant access is essential, waiting for thirty seconds to find out fuel economy statistics, performance specs or safety data seemed like waiting forever. Essential data was deeply embedded in the video programs, leading to long waits and frustration.

Now, with WheelsTV’s iDrive Videos, consumers can immediately access the data they need in an entertaining and engaging “live data” format. This patent-pending innovation uses the scrub bar that’s included with virtually all video players and the fast forward function of television’s DVR’s and video-on-demand to immediately access essential car shopping information. iDrive Videos eliminate the wait, the one drawback to traditional linear video.

“Until now, the one Achilles heel of traditional video test drives has been that car shoppers want, need and expect instant access to information. Now with iDrive Videos, key information is right at their fingertips. Chapter headings illuminate when you reach them and smart-shopper information appears in a data bar at the bottom of the screen. This makes video car shopping quick, easy and actually a lot of fun,” says Jim Barisano, CEO of WheelsTV.

WheelsTV’s Chief Technology Officer, Collin Davis, states, “WheelsTV videos are all about engagement. In an age of information overload you have to maintain friction to keep the consumer’s attention. WheelsTV Video Test Drives and their new interactive features do just that by increasing engagement by 25%.” iDrive Videos are available on all 2012 model year videos, only from WheelsTV and its distributors: Chrome Systems, Cobalt, Reynolds & Reynolds and AutoData.

WheelsTV is the world’s leading producer of video test drives with a suite of car shopping tools including Top 200 Test Drives, 1:00 on One Overviews and POV Reviews. WheelsTV is the first and only company to provide 100% video coverage of each year’s North American light vehicle lineup.

The ’06 to ’09 Ford Fusion has been named 2011 WheelsTV POV of the Year. This national award is presented annually to one generation of a pre-owned vehicle. To qualify for the WheelsTV POVOTY, the vehicle must be in service for at least two years and demonstrate outstanding long-term reliability and exceptional consumer satisfaction. A juried panel composed of members of the New England Motor Press Association and WheelsTV’s writers and analysts make the final selection.

This year, judging and voting took place at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline where seven category winners were first selected:

Green Car: 04-09 Toyota Prius — Fuel-efficient, safe, sensible

Family Sedan: 06-09 Ford Fusion — Practical, good value, handsome

SUV: 07-10 Toyota Highlander — Versatile, capable, spacious

Small Car: 06-09 Honda Civic — Reliable, attractive, frugal

Sporty Car: 05-09 BMW 3 Series — Nimble, potent, iconic

Luxury Car: 09-10 Jaguar XF — Stylish, unique, lavish

Light Truck: 07-10 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 — Rugged, dependable, powerful

From this group, the ’06 to ’09 Ford Fusion emerged as the clear leader and was named this year’s recipient of the 2011 WheelsTV POVOTY. This year’s award, custom crafted using an antique Model T steering wheel, was presented to the Ford Motor Company at the annual NEMPA Awards Banquet at MIT in Cambridge, MA. Bill Collins, general manager, Ford East Region Communications, received the award from WheelsTV’s CEO, Jim Barisano. Upon being presented with the POV of the Year Award, Bill Collins stated, “Ford is committed to designing and manufacturing cars that provide dependable service to our owners. We are honored to receive this year’s POV of the Year Award from WheelsTV and NEMPA in recognition of the high level of consumer satisfaction that the ’06 to ’09 Ford Fusion has achieved.”

Stated Jim Barisano, “While the ’06 to ’09 Ford Fusions received numerous accolades when new, the true test of a well-crafted automobile is its ability to provide solid, dependable transportation over years of service and many thousands of miles of day-to-day driving. This, the ’06 to ’09 Ford Fusion has done commendably. And while the Ford Fusion may not power a buck-saw, hay baler or conveyor for filling corn cribs as the Model T once did, the Fusion carries on Ford’s tradition of solid long-term performance as one of the most highly regarded pre-owned vehicles on America’s roads today.”

“Congratulations to the Ford Motor Company,” Stated Keith Griffin, VP of NEMPA, “We are pleased to work with Wheels TV on the POVOTY award because of WheelsTV’s in-depth testing and knowledge of new and used vehicles. The POVOTY awards, combined with the awards we present, go a long way towards helping consumers making informed decisions when buying their next vehicles.”

WheelsTV tests hundreds of pre-owned vehicles each year in creating the video series, POV Reviews. POV Reviews help used car buyers to select the most reliable, economical, safe and comfortable vehicles for their needs. Dependability data, model year milestones, crash test ratings from IIHS and NHTSA, and recall information are all presented in each video covering a vehicle’s entire generation. This extensive research and input from NEMPA’s knowledgeable writers provided the foundation for naming the ’06 to ’09 Ford Fusion the 2011 WheelsTV POV of the Year.

(Acton, MA, and Mountain View, CA) September 28, 2009: WheelsTV, the leading producer and distributor of independent new car video test drives, and Ooyala, the leading provider of end-to-end video platform applications and services, today announced the market test of POV (Pre-Owned Vehicle) Reviews on eBay Motors. This new, video-based consumer shopping service was created by WheelsTV in response to a significant need by pre-owned vehicle shoppers for a video-centric shopping and research solution that would save significant time, make the process more enjoyable and lead to a better vehicle ownership experience.

According to WheelsTV, each five-minute POV Review saves consumers over five hours of research. Comprehensive road tests, walk-arounds and critical car shopping data addressing reliability, safety and fuel economy are all included. POV Reviews are produced with J. D. Power and Associates data. Colorful graphics of J.D. Power.com’s Power Circle Ratings clearly demonstrate trends in overall dependability, performance and quality.

POV Reviews are now shown on the eBay Motors site using video technology by Ooyala. With the company’s adaptive bit rate video delivery, which delivers a high quality, buffer free video experience, consumers can easily and seamlessly watch the reviews. The advanced analytics collected by the player demonstrate the overall video performance and precisely show what sections of the videos are most interesting to viewers.

Each POV Review provides an in-depth lineup of essential information for anyone planning to purchase a pre-owned vehicle and Ooyala’s technology makes it easy for consumers to get the information they need while enjoying the colorful viewing experience. The expanding archive of POV Reviews covers hundreds of late-model pre-owned vehicles, all easily accessed on eBay Motors via the Ooyala.

“Video is the most efficient and persuasive way to communicate information. POV Reviews by WheelsTV harness the power of video to improve and accelerate the decision making process for the consumer,” says Ooyala’s CEO, Jay Fulcher. “The industry-leading analytics provided with the Ooyala platform will help eBay Motors and WheelsTV optimize their video content and intelligently connect buyers with their targeted interest in a specific automobile.”

With used cars outselling new by as much as four to one, according to the National Automotive Dealers Association, the need for an informative video series to help consumers find the right vehicle has become critical.

“Shopping for a good, reliable used car can be a daunting challenge,” says WheelsTV CEO Jim Barisano, “but with POV Reviews powered by Ooyala on eBay Motors, consumers receive the benefit of WheelsTV’s and J.D. Power and Associates’ industry-leading automotive research, all in just five minutes.”

eBay Motors is the first website to test this revolutionary video series, a deployment that was quickly executed using Ooyala’s publishing platform.

Thursday, April 30, 2009: WheelsTV today launched POV Reviews, comprehensive video reviews of late model pre-owned vehicles. This suite of videos incorporates JDPower.com’s Power Circle Ratings™, based on feedback from verified vehicle owners derived from J.D. Power and Associates’ annual syndicated studies. These ratings, along with EPA fuel economy numbers and crash test data are brought to life with full-motion, broadcast quality video from WheelsTV.

“With POV Reviews, consumers can now do five hours of research in just five minutes, getting a comprehensive review of every make and model within a generation of each vehicle. This is a new and effective tool that helps consumers find the right vehicles for them and, at the same time, assists on-line vehicle shopping services and auto dealers in selling pre-owned vehicles.” stated Lehel Reeves, president of WheelsTV.

POV Reviews™ make shopping for a pre-owned vehicle quick and easy, gathering consumer feedback from millions of motorists, conducting independent research and encapsulating findings into brief, informative video programs. JDPower.com’s Power Circle Ratings are presented in an easy to understand video format that demonstrates important vehicle attributes from dependability to performance, safety and comfort. Data is collated and encapsulated into concise narrative and clear, easy to read data screens, which cover multiple vehicle years and demonstrate trends.

WheelsTV’s patent pending process combines the data screens, action footage of each vehicle, voice-over narration, music and effects to create a valuable tool for both those buying cars and those selling cars.

With POV Reviews™, consumers are given the ability to quickly and easily research, compare and choose the best pre-owned vehicles for them, saving time and money.
Consumers look at online videos to get a better picture of cars, read product reviews, learn more about safety ratings, get a feel for how vehicles drive, and discover technology and entertainment features. So says “The Role of Online Video for Automotive Shoppers and Buyers” survey, completed in the first quarter of 2009.

Spearheaded by Google, the study reveals 83% of new vehicle buyers visit video focused Web sites prior to purchasing a car. This means 31% viewed videos on brand, product or company sites; 24% on auto-specific Web sites, 11% on YouTube; 7%, Yahoo Video; 7%, news sites; 6%, MSN Video; 4%, MySpace; 3%, Facebook; 3%, AOL Video; and 3%, other.

And while brand sites are a major driver to ringing up sales, half of all “in-market” automotive shoppers visited YouTube. The site attracts 40% of people online in the United States. In February, approximately 70 million people visited the YouTube.

“Advanced marketers look at video as a platform to engage consumers to communicate sight, sound and motion,” says Davang Shah, head of automotive marketing at Google. “Now we are seeing that evolve to consumer comments and consumer-generated media.”

For example, 70% of auto Internet shoppers use consumer-generated content while shopping for a new vehicle, of which 63% of these consumers look for ratings and reviews, according to Google, citing the JD Power and Associates: New AutoShopper.com Study 2008.

Volvo recently ran a masthead ad on YouTube’s home page to promote the XC60. The company embedded a live Twitter feed from the New York Auto Show. The ad received 38 million impressions. YouTube viewers who were exposed to the ad were 16 times more likely to view Volvo content on YouTube, 11 times more likely to visit the Volvo Web site, and 7 times more likely to conduct a Volvo branded query on a search engine.

Savvy marketers are tying traditional and paid search campaigns with videos. “Not only do consumers search for videos on Google, but also on YouTube, enforcing the correlation between what happens offline and online,” Shah says.
